BTN #3 Federation

It was only 116 years ago that Australia became a whole county. A lot of people were debating it because they thought that new south wales and Victoria would have all the power because they had they most population in their states. the reason why they wanted to join to make one whole country is because they be stronger if all their army joint together and because trading would be a lot more effective. when each state ran as their own you couldn’t even take a train from Victoria to Brisbane because the train tracks were different sizes. I understand why all the states formed together to make a stronger community. Why were the aboriginals so left out, were they a threat to the British?

BTN/ Convicts Stealing #2

When the convicts were sent off to Australia a lot of people though they had it easy, they worked for a period of time building, and once the had served there sentence they got to live a life there. This made people in Britten want to be transported so they did crime and purposely got caught. The ruler of England didn’t want that so instead of sentencing them transportation they would just put weights on their necks, wrists and ankles to make it really hard to walk. some people even die from the pain. In the jails a lot of people got sick and it spread. I understand why a lot of people wanted to  be transported because poor people in Britten had to steal to survive and if they got caught they would have horrible punishments that can lead to death. Why didn’t they just transfer all the criminals to Australia? If they did they would get a lot more done there.

BTN- First Fleet/Encounter #1

In 1788 8 ships set sail from England to Australia, 5 of those ships where filled with about 100 convicts and about 20 of them where children, the other three ships where filled with supply to get through the 8 month journey to Australia and hopefully start a colony in Australia. the ship had such hard conditions, a lot of people got sick and there wasn’t a lot of water so people died of dehydration. On each ship about 20 people didn’t make it to Australia. Once they docked at botany bay they notices that other people where there. some of then has paint art on their body and the convicts where quite scared. the aboriginals has never seen anyone these there people and didn’t like them because they used things like guns and weapons the aboriginals weren’t familiar to. I understand how the aboriginals felt when new people ambushed the land they owned. If aboriginals could speak English would they work together with the convicts?

Ancient Study Of Astronomy

This video was about the people and their discoveries of ancient astronomy. The ancient Greeks, Babylonian’s, and the Maya’s all play a part in today’s astronomy. Long ago, the people in Babylon were very fascinated in astronomy and had a lot of knowledge about it, they had a system of recording mass of volumes on astronomical observations from which they created mathematical models, mathematical models that created calendars could then be use to time important dates in Babylon. It sounds complicated but they know what they are doing. Like the Babylonian’s, the Maya’s where also just as interested in astronomy. They created something known as the Mayan long count calendar which is a very sophisticated and a base 20 number system. They used their knowledge of the calendar to know when events happen like an eclipse or a war. There was one man in ancient Greece who developed the Ptolemaic system. this model showed that earth is in the center of the universe but today it had been proven wrong. Another man has done research on the earths axis and how it spins, man people believe was the best astronomer in the ancient times.

Here is the video on ancient astronomy!
